I can't quite remember the date around 1800's but it is imprinted on beautiful tile within the shop in Belem, where I have had the privilege of eating them warm straight from the oven with strong coffee, delicious!  The ones we make are only a whisper like the original, unfortuneately. Here you can taste the delights of the original tarts (which taste soo different from ones I have tried elsewhere).
